Hi, I’m Sam!

Blogger. Entrepreneur. Unicorn.

Welcome to Read & Buried, my little part of the internet where I store my thoughts about the things I’ve read. I can’t imagine why someone would want to know more about me, but as you’re here, I can give you a little background into who I am:

I grew up in rural east Texas for the majority of my childhood, in the middle of nowhere. I went to college in central Texas, originally planning on majoring in computer science, but switching to English literature early in my freshman year, thus dooming myself to happiness for four years at the cost of a decent career.

After much pondering, I decided to go to library school to become an archivist. I’d interacted with the college archives during my undergraduate career, and it seemed like a more agreeable path than entering the world of academia and teaching–the worst fate I could imagine for myself. I was accepted into a graduate program in Boston, and that’s where I remain after graduating with an MLIS and securing my dream job.

Now that I’m no longer in school for the first time in my life, I have a lot more time to return to my favorite hobbies: namely, reading for pleasure rather than assignments. I’ve always read pretty widely, so my reviews are a mish-mash of genres and styles, but I always like having something fresh to turn to when I’m ready for a change of pace in my reading life.

As for other hobbies, I also enjoy fiber arts, hockey, visiting national parks, and traveling. I’m a catless cat fanatic, and I dream of one day being the crazy cat lady with more cats than sense. I’m always willing to talk books, librarianship, or any of the above–reach out on my Contact page!
